Upper-age relaxation per section II of the CRP PO/MT-XVI notice. SC/ST/OBC relaxation is cumulative with only one of PwBD or ex-servicemen (Note i). The minimum age of 20 is never relaxed.

Four things most pages get wrong

01 · The cutoff

IBPS PO counts age on 1 July 2026

You must be born not earlier than 2 July 1996 and not later than 1 July 2006, both dates included.

02 · The floor

The minimum is 20, a year below SBI PO

A 20-year-old graduate can sit IBPS PO but not SBI PO, which starts at 21.

03 · Cumulative

Category relaxation adds to one other relaxation

SC/ST/OBC relaxation stacks with PwBD or ex-servicemen relaxation, not both. An OBC PwBD candidate gets 13 years.

04 · The banks

One exam, 7,365 indicative vacancies

The updated indent of 20 July 2026 covers Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, PNB and other participating banks for 2027–28. Some banks reported no vacancies.

What is the IBPS PO age limit for OBC?+
33 years as on 1 July 2026 for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer). OBC candidates in the creamy layer apply as General.
What is the IBPS PO age limit for SC and ST candidates?+
35 years as on 1 July 2026, five years above the General limit of 30.
Can SC/ST/OBC and PwBD relaxation be combined in IBPS PO?+
Yes. The notice allows category relaxation to stack with one of PwBD or ex-servicemen relaxation, so an SC PwBD candidate's limit is 45.
Is the IBPS PO age limit the same as SBI PO?+
The upper limit is 30 for both, but IBPS starts at 20 and counts age on 1 July, while SBI starts at 21 and counts on 1 April.
How many attempts are allowed in IBPS PO?+
The CRP PO/MT-XVI notice does not set an attempt limit. You can apply in any cycle while you are within the age limit for your category.
