Why this set exists

What this vertical covers

Written for an Indian user, not a keyword counter

A salary number only means something when you know which salary it is. CTC includes employer PF and gratuity, gross salary is what the offer letter calls salary, and take-home is what reaches the bank after PF, professional tax and TDS. These calculators keep the three separate.

Every page is dated and sourced. Income tax uses the tax year 2026–27 new-regime slabs with the Rs 75,000 standard deduction, the section 156 rebate, surcharge and 4% cess shown as separate lines. HRA shows the three section 11 and Schedule III tests, gratuity applies the Payment of Gratuity Act formula, and the old-vs-new comparison runs the same income through both regimes.

Before you calculate

Worth knowing before you calculate

01 · CTC is not take-home

Employer PF and gratuity sit inside CTC

Employer PF (12% of basic) and gratuity provision (4.81% of basic) are costs to the company, not money in your bank. The in-hand calculator removes them before it starts.

02 · The tax-free line

Rs 12.75 lakh salary can mean zero tax

Under the tax year 2026–27 new regime, a Rs 75,000 standard deduction plus the section 156 rebate can wipe out tax on salary up to about Rs 12,75,000. The calculator shows the rebate line.

03 · Old rules still matter

HRA and gratuity are not in the new regime

HRA exemption under section 11 and Schedule III exists only in the old regime. Gratuity is handled by the Payment of Gratuity Act and section 19 of the Income-tax Act, 2025 (Table, Sl. Nos. 3–6), not by the income-tax slab choice.

Questions

Salary & Tax — frequently asked questions

Which salary calculator should I use first?+
Start with the in-hand salary calculator if you have a CTC offer. It converts the offer into a monthly take-home. Then use the income tax calculator for a cleaner tax-only estimate, and the old-vs-new comparison if you claim HRA, 80C or home-loan interest.
Are the income tax slabs for tax year 2026–27 the same as last year?+
Yes. Budget 2026 made no change to the new-regime individual slab rates, so tax year 2026–27 uses the same bands as FY 2025–26: nil up to Rs 4 lakh, then 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and 30%.
Is HRA exemption available under the new tax regime?+
No. HRA exemption under section 11 and Schedule III is an old-regime benefit. The new regime allows the Rs 75,000 standard deduction but not HRA, 80C, 80D or home-loan interest.
How is gratuity calculated in India?+
For employees covered by the Payment of Gratuity Act, gratuity is (basic + DA) × 15/26 × completed years of service, with a part-year over six months counted as a full year. The statutory ceiling is Rs 20,00,000.
Do these calculators work for government employees?+
The salary and tax pages are built for private-sector CTC. Government employees should use the 7th pay salary calculator for the pay matrix, DA, HRA and transport allowance, and the 7th pay pension calculator for retirement benefits.
Trust layer — why these pages are different

Every calculator, dated and sourced.

Each calculator on this page is generated from one verified record: its inputs, formula, tests, sources and the date the numbers were checked. When an official rate changes, the record changes and the page is rebuilt with a new verified date.
