Upper-limit relaxation per DoP&T OM 15012/2/2010-Estt.(D), 27.03.2012. The 2026 notice lists no PwBD relaxation. Widowed, divorced or judicially separated women (not remarried) may apply for Delhi Police SI up to 35 (40 for SC/ST).

Four things most pages get wrong

01 · The cutoff

Age is counted on 1 August 2026

You must be born not earlier than 02.08.2001 and not later than 01.08.2006. The exam date does not matter.

02 · The floor

The minimum age is 20, not 18

CPO is a graduate-level SI exam, so the lower limit is 20. Relaxations never lower it.

03 · CISF Fire

SI (Fire) in CISF has its own 18–30 window

The 2026 notice sets 18–30 for SI (Fire) in CISF only. Every other post uses 20–25.

04 · Departmental

Delhi Police staff get a separate ceiling

Departmental candidates with 3 years' regular service may apply up to 30 (UR/EWS), 33 (OBC) or 35 (SC/ST) — for Delhi Police vacancies only.

Can a 26-year-old apply for SSC CPO?+
Only with a relaxation — OBC, SC/ST, ex-serviceman or Delhi Police departmental — or for SI (Fire) in CISF, whose limit is 30. A General candidate who is 26 on 1 August 2026 is over age for the other posts.
Is there age relaxation for women in SSC CPO?+
Only for widowed, divorced or judicially separated women who have not remarried: up to 35 years (40 for SC/ST), and only for SI in Delhi Police.
How do ex-servicemen calculate their SSC CPO age?+
Deduct your military service from your actual age on the closing date, then allow 3 years. The checker flags this rather than applying a flat number.
